About Iceland Fishing Tours
An independent comparison of the fishing trips sold in Iceland: sea angling boats from Reykjavik and Hauganes, a private river and lake day, and winter ice fishing near Akureyri. We compare tour listings, official licence rules and recent traveller feedback. We do not operate or personally conduct these tours, hold no bookings and run no boats. The trips sit on the Iceland fishing tours comparison.
Why This Site Exists
Fishing in Iceland splits into three different worlds that rarely appear on one page. A three-hour sea angling boat from Reykjavik needs nothing but a booking. A lake needs a Fishing Card. A salmon river is private property sold by the rod, often in multi-day packages that cost more than the flight. And any used rod or pair of waders you bring from home has to be disinfected before it touches fresh water.
None of that is secret. It sits in the licence rules on island.is, in the Food and Veterinary Authority's travel advice and in the operators' small print. Putting it next to the price is the job of this site.
Where the Facts Come From
Tour prices, durations, ratings, review counts, inclusions and age limits come from each operator's own listing, in US dollars. Licence and gear rules come from official sources: island.is for sea angling permits, MAST for gear disinfection and the Veiðikortið shop for the Fishing Card. River seasons and rod prices come from the fishing associations and the agencies that sell the rods, and where two sources disagree the page says so.
Review quotes carry the reviewer's name, country and travel month exactly as published. We do not write testimonials.
What We Do Not Do
We do not ride the boats, fish the rivers or audit safety records. Whether the swell in Faxaflói is fine on a given evening is a call for the captain you book with.
We also do not take your booking. Every Check Availability button sends you to the platform the operator sells on, where the price, the terms and the cancellation window are theirs.
How the Site Pays for Itself
Links to tours on this site are affiliate links. If you book through one, the platform pays us a commission and you pay the same price you would pay going there directly.
That arrangement does not decide which tours appear, what order they sit in, or what we say about them. Our pick is not the most expensive listing. It wins on a column you can check in the comparison table: a cap of 12 passengers with hotel pickup included.
Corrections
Seasons shift, operators change boats and prices move. If something here is out of date, write to us and tell us what you found and when you were there. We would rather fix a number than defend it.
